New shop opens at River Crossing

Bibb County has another new-to-the-market retailer at The Shoppes at River Crossing.

Houston, Texas-based Charming Charlie — a women’s accessory boutique — has opened in the 750,000-square-foot regional shopping and entertainment center off Interstate 75 at Riverside, Wesleyan and Sheraton drives.

This is the third Charming Charlie store in Georgia, said Patty Fadhouli, director of marketing for the company.

“We have a huge assortment of accessories, and we merchandise by color,” Fadhouli said. “We have a range of shoes and a range of clothing, but we are definitely an accessory boutique.”

The store carries jewelry, handbags, hats, sunglasses, watches, scarves and hair accessories, she said.

“We specialize in giving that boutique experience, but we try to do the feel-good pricing,” Fadhouli said.

The company, which was founded in 2004, has 21 stores including the Macon store and one that opened in Baton Rouge, La., at the same time, she said. It has eight more stores scheduled to open this summer and fall.

Also Dress Barn, a woman’s apparel retailer, is expected to open at River Crossing later this month or early August, Bill Baker, River Crossing senior general manager, said in June. Dick’s Sporting Goods is under construction and is expected to open its second Macon store in late August.

Negotiations are also under way for another full-service restaurant to come to the center, Baker said.

The Shoppes at River Crossing was developed by Chicago-based General Growth Properties Inc. and Montgomery, Ala.-based Jim Wilson & Associates LLC. Its grand opening was held in March 2008.
