What it's about: Kirk's photography career started in Chicago as a contract concert photographer for the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times in the mid-'70s. Through his photography he befriended his favorite band, the Allman Brothers Band. When they reunited in the late '80s Kirk went out to shoot their concerts and was asked to stay on as a tour manager. This gave Kirk unlimited access to them and resulted in more than 30,000 photographs covering the 40-plus years of their relationship.

"Les Brers," a coffee table book, is Kirk's photographic memoir of this time from 1973 to 2014 and covers not only the Allman Brothers but the solo careers and offshoot bands such as Sea Level, the Gregg Allman Band, Dickey Betts' Great Southern, Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks and the Tedeschi/Trucks Band.

The author says: We sold almost 1,000 copies of the book prior to its publication.

Where to find it: Gallery West, 447 Third St., Macon, and www.lesbrers.com.
