The best way to keep your cat cool in the summer

Cats typically become uncomfortable in temperatures above 80 F, so it's important to take steps to keep your cat cool, especially in the summer months.

According to Blue Cross UK, one of the best ways to keep your cat cool in the summer is to provide ample hydration options. The organization recommended providing a running water source, such as a water fountain, to encourage hydration and adding ice cubes to the water to cool it.

Additionally, some cats may find playing with ice cubes fun, so providing them on a hard surface is a great way to cool their paws and add a dose of enrichment to indoor playtime. Also, taking a damp towel and gently wiping their fur down will help to cool your cat down in the summer.

It's also very important to keep on top of a cat's grooming during the warmer summer months because "removing the dead hair will make them feel more comfortable during a heatwave." Cats will also groom themselves more in the summer because "When your cat's saliva evaporates off their fur, it cools your cat down."
