A kitten went out on her first hiking trip with her dad, and it's the sweetest little adventure we've seen!

In a video posted to TikTok, the cat dad took his kitten, Flow, on a hiking adventure and captured every precious moment. In the video, Flow ran around with her harness on and hitched a ride in her dad's pocket as they hiked through a forest together. Flow curiously and cautiously explored her surroundings, taking in everything as she hung out with her dad.

Flow would "get used to the area" and eventually enthusiastically walk alongside her dad, sniffing everything around her. She eventually let her dad carry her and even rode on his shoulder as they finished their hike out of the forest.

"She's adjusting quicker and quicker," Flow's dad wrote in the caption. "So proud of her!"

People on the internet were also super proud of Flow and her hike with her dad, with users commenting on how "sweet" and "adorable" she looked while hanging out with him.

"Next time the cat distribution system chooses me, I'm training them to use a harness from day one," one person wrote.

Others commented on how much they "love her," and her sweet little adventures, and one person added that they've "never been more jealous in my life."

"Please keep these coming," another user wrote in the comments. "Your kitten is a joy to watch. Thank you."

Keeping your cat safe outside

If you decide to let your cat explore outside, the best way is to allow them to go out with supervision and harness training.

Harness training, especially with a kitten, makes it easier to allow them to explore and to give you peace of mind when they're out and about. Some of the best ways to start harness training are to start them young, so they can get used to it.

AKC Pet Insurance also reccomends providing easy access to water whenever you're outside with your cat to help prevent dehydration. They also note that it's important to get them microchipped or " a GPS tracker to attach to their collar."

It's also important to look out for their health and safety. Make sure to speak with your vet about vaccinations and flea and tick prevention early on to ensure your pet is protected. It's also necessary to check their fur regularly, especially during flea and tick season, to prevent long-term issues.
