You show your kids, or those in the younger generation, your favorite songs and hope they like them, but there's no guarantee.

You show your dog your favorite song? That dog will rock out alongside you, dancing until you're tuckered out-but these golden retrievers took things a step further and learned their own dance moves to go along with their mom and dad's favorite song lyrics.

Golden Retrievers With Opposite Music Tastes

Emma and Ellie are two very good girls whose humans upload their adventures to the YouTube channel Ellie Golden Life. In this episode, we see how each fur baby dances to their favorite song.

It really is a tale of two personalities, but both are so precious!

"My dog reacts to songs," the video caption reads, showing Emma's reaction to "Get Low" by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.

Emma is absolutely locked into this 2002 hip-hop party anthem, her tongue sticking out of her smiling jaws, her paws perched and ready to follow the dance moves.

When Lil Jon says "back it up," Emma backs it up, and when Lil Jon says "wiggle with it," Emma spins around. Mom in the background can't help but laugh, and why not? Emma is a very smart and playful golden retriever.

Her sister Ellie, on the other hand, is a bit more introspective-but no less in love with her favorite song.

Her taste turns to Bonnie Tyler's 1983 classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart." It's a brooding, emotional ballad, but Ellie is just as ready to dance. When Tyler sings "turn around," Ellie turns around and makes a full 360. Mom can't help but laugh at this, too!

"You know you have well trained pets when they follow instructions in songs," one commenter says.

"This made my day," another fan raves. "You ladies are not only beautiful and smart but you got some moves!"

Do Dogs Understand Music?

Dogs can of course hear music, but their brains don't interpret the melodies in the same emotional way that ours do.

Instead, dogs lock in on the rhythm, tone and frequency of a song. They can also gauge the emotional atmosphere in the room by seeing how their human reacts to the song playing.

If you catch your dog howling along to a song, it's most likely not because they're trying to sing, but that they've tapped into their pack instincts.

Still, these dogs can clearly make out the lyrics. They're hearing those training cues and getting right to it, and it does look like they're having a lot of fun!
