Rare ‘Two-Faced' Kitten Is One of Only a Handful Ever Documented
When a pregnant cat delivers her precious litter of kittens, she joins the ranks with the newly minted title of "Mom." Like all parents, cats want to know their babies are healthy, though that part isn't always within our control.
In fact, there's an incredibly rare condition that causes very few kittens to be born with two faces. One little angel who joined the world recently is one of only a handful of felines born with the condition ever documented.
Frank and Louie hold the Guinness World Record for being the oldest two-faced Janus cat. He made it to the ripe old age of 15 before passing away in 2014. Since then, documented Janus kittens are few and far between, with one baby born in China in 2017, one kitten born in 2022 (as reported by California's ABC7 News), and one baby born in Ocala, Florida's Maricamp Animal Hospital in 2025.
As of now, there's no update on the newest Janus kitty. But these tiny creatures are a great reminder that we're all born with some pretty cool things that make each of us unique-so live it up as only you can!
