3 Movies to Watch For LGBTQ Pride Month 2026

Pride Month is almost here, and one of the best ways to celebrate LGBTQ people this season is to watch an inspiring film that helps show the best parts of the queer community.

The three films on this list range from high school dramas to Academy Award-worthy films with some of Hollywood's biggest names. These are the LGBTQ movies that will uplift your spirit and make you or the queer person in your life proud of themselves this June and every Pride in the future.

Love, Simon (2018)

Love, Simon is the sappiest, corniest high school story that gay people have always deserved for decades, but never got because of a lack of acceptance. It stars Nick Robinson as a closeted teenager who falls in love with a pen pal. He knows the other boy goes to his school, but it takes the rest of the movie before his identity is revealed.

The movie is based on a novel by Becky Albertalli and was so popular that it received a spinoff series on Hulu, Love, Victor, starring Michael Cimino.

Call Me By Your Name (2017)

Call Me By Your Name was Timothée Chalamet's breakout role, and it remains one of the pivotal, but controversial, LGBTQ films of the last decade. A forbidden romance in 1980s Italy between a 17-year-old and a 24-year-old man, the story tenderly quantifies the passionate love between two people who know they can't be with each other forever, but they go for their desires anyway. The scene between Chalamet's character and his dad, played by Michael Stuhlbarg, near the end of the film is one of the ages.

Brokeback Mountain (2005)

Brokeback Mountain is the LGBTQ film that opened the floodgates for every ensuing picture in the genre for the next two decades. Starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as two cowboys in love, director Ang Lee's vision is brought to life with poignant and heartbreaking acting, aesthetics, and music. It's a shame it didn't win Best Picture at the Oscars.
