Morning Bossa Nova - Bossa Nova Terrace

Sloths are known as solitary animals that typically don't seek out or thrive on human attention. Experts say sloths can freeze due to anxiety when held, and the stress response may cause them to enter a "fight or flight" state when in close contact with humans.

In this video, however, Chloe reaches for her human, appearing completely comfortable as she initiates the embrace. Turns out, Chloe is giving her human a birthday gift, too.

More than 1,000 commenters gushed over the loving animal-to-human interaction.

"I think I would cry if a sloth woke up and immediately reached for me," shared one viewer.

Another added, "Immediately went for a hug. I love how she reached for you right away. Nothing slow about her love for you."

Others were quick to notice Chloe's speedy reach for affection, a move that contrasts with the sloth's reputation for being slow-moving animals.

"Chloe moving pretty darn quickly when hugs are on offer," one commenter observed.

"Imagine getting to hold sloths every day. What a dream," shared another.

Thanks to cute animal social media videos, sloths are receiving worldwide attention, piquing curiosity and interest among viewers everywhere. Sloths' perpetual smiles and laid-back attitude have made them highly Instagrammable and social media favorites.

Named the official animal of Costa Rica in 2021, sloths have never been more popular. But with popularity also comes a growing need for awareness surrounding the safety and ethical treatment of these unique creatures.
