Capybara's Daily Visit to Her Border Collie Bestie Is Melting Hearts
We're all used to seeing pets become best friends, whether it's cats and dogs or even more unexpected pairings like a cat and a prairie dog. But some animal friendships are so wholesome and unusual they almost don't seem real, and this capybara and Border Collie duo is definitely one of the most unique we've seen.
In the adorable video, a capybara named Cheesecake makes her daily visit to see her dog bestie, Stevie, who eagerly waits for her arrival like it's the highlight of the day. Cheesecake clearly feels right at home, too, happily wandering inside and immediately making herself comfortable the second she walks through the doorway.
@darkwingswildlife Cheesecake the capybara has really taken to sneaking over first thing in the morning while Pumpkin's still in bed so that she gets the couch to herself Pumpkin and Cheesecake, our two capybaras, have access to our back porch through a connected pasture and will sometimes come up to the door for some extra attention and cuddles. Though they look cute, and I do let them in when I can, they are extremely time consuming and expensive to care for. When you see clips of them coming in the house, when I say "don't eat anything" I mean it. They're the largest rodent in the world, and will chew on pretty much anything, so I have to watch them 100% of the time when they're inside. They're also smart, and she will wait until I'm not paying attention to try to chew on wires or the blankets on the couch #capybara#funnyanimals#funny#animals

We love unusual animal friendships, and Cheesecake and Stevie are so cute together! We love how Cheesecake just makes herself right at home, and Stevie's excitement that she's there. They make the cutest friends!

More About Cheesecake the Capybara
In another video, Cheesecake's mom explains that having pet capybaras is very expensive and time-consuming, and says if you really want one, a guinea pig is basically a "mini capy" and a lot less work.
Cheesecake and Stevie's mom shared more about caring for a capybara in the video's caption.
