Why Are Men Stopping Andy Cohen in the Street To Talk About This Reality Show?
Andy Cohen is fielding questions on the street about the Summer House reunion. Only the first part of the three-part reunion has aired, but it is already drawing significant attention because the cast finally publicly confronted castmates Amanda Batula and West Wilson about their affair.
Cohen posted Thursday on Threads: "6 straight guys have stopped me in the west village in the last 5 hours to discuss reunion. This is a higher than average post-reunion occurrence!"
Cohen hosts many Bravo reunion specials, making sure to ask the questions fans are eager to hear. His most recent special, part one of the Summer House season 10 reunion, aired Tuesday, and it was explosive. The biggest scandal unfolded post-season when Batula and Wilson revealed in an Instagram post that they were in a relationship. For fans of the show and for the cast, it was jaw-dropping.
Batula was married to Kyle Cooke, but the pair separated after the season. The couple's storyline in Season 10 revolved around their fracturing relationship. Batula notably leaned on Ciara Miller a lot, one of her best friends. Miller also confided in Batula about her own relationship with her ex, Wilson. In the Season 10 finale, Miller and Wilson are seen rekindling their romance.
Batula and Wilson then start hanging out alone, hiding their budding romance from their friends, including Miller and Cooke. After some paparazzi photos and rumors, Batula vehemently denied a relationship with Wilson and even said "no, ew," when asked if she would date a Summer House castmate.
Yet, the next month, Batula and Wilson went public. Cooke reacted angrily, accusing Batula of an emotional affair during the In the City premiere. After the reveal, Miller spoke out, saying she expected better from her close friend. This is where the story is when the reunion begins.
The reunion opens with Cooke interrupting Lindsay Hubbard's confessional and urging her to check her phone to see Batula and Wilson's statement. The frantic phone calls that followed, unseen during the regular season, effectively set the stage for the reunion.
During the reunion, the whole cast seemed to be sad and hurt. Batula and Wilson sat on one couch facing Miller and Cooke. Wilson remained silent through most of the first segment, while Batula confronted their friends. Miller fired questions at Batula, and others expressed their frustration with the couple. One thing is unmistakable: Miller still cannot believe her friend's betrayal.
Aside from the confrontation of Batula and Wilson, the reunion included many other emotional admissions. Mia Calabrese talked about grief, and KJ Dillard revealed he was hospitalized for self-harm and diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Calabrese and Miller were constant supports for Dillard during that time. Bailey Taylor also confronted Ben Waddell for his treatment of women. At the same time, Wilson learns that a nude of him was being circulated, just to add to the craziness.
Cohen previously posted on Instagram, saying this reunion was one of the most intense he had ever hosted.
Part 2 will premiere on June 2 and Part three on June 9 on Bravo.
