Golfer Suddenly Withdraws From Charles Schwab Challenge During 2nd Round
During the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge, golfer Stephan Jaeger abruptly withdrew.
Jaeger got off to a brutal start to the tournament, carding a five-over, 75 that included two double-bogeys, two bogeys and just a single birdie. His first round left him 11 shots off the leaders, who were at 6-under after the first 18 holes.
Jaeger came back out for his second round on Friday morning and played nine more holes, carding two bogeys and seven pars to sit at seven-over for the tournament and 17 shots off the lead. Rather than playing the back nine, Jaeger abruptly withdrew from the tournament.

It's not uncommon for golfers to withdraw from a tournament if they're well outside of the cut line come Friday afternoon, but his abrupt withdrawal suggests a true injury.
Before the his unfortunate Charles Schwab Challenge, Jaeger was one of the hottest golfers on tour, finishing in a tie for 18th at the PGA Championship - easily his best finish in a major tournament. He followed that up with a top-10 finish at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week and look like a legitimate contender as the Texas swing continued.
Instead, he's headed home 45 holes sooner than those that will make the cut and play the weekend.
Jaeger did not publicly post a reason for his departure on social media, but fans will be waiting to hear from the popular golfer.
