How to Add Character to Your Home With Some Spackle and Stencils
If you're planning to redo or repaint any walls in your home sometime soon, you may want to consider something a little more unique than just picking a new color or even a fun wallpaper.
Instead, creating a textural design with spackle and stencils adds a subtle yet unique touch to any wall or doorway.
DIY creator Danyeil Goshen recently shared this idea on her page, and many shared how they copied it or had previously done it in their own spaces.

From adding texture along stairwells and in bathrooms to skinny wall edges, this DIY home idea uses only spackle and stencils to achieve a perfectly detailed, unique look.
What Is Spackle?
If you've never used spackle before, you may be unfamiliar with its putty-like paste texture.
Usually, spackle comes in a tub or a squeeze tube and is used to fill small holes and cracks caused by hanging picture frames or other wall ornaments.
When you apply it for this purpose, you typically "spackle" it on with a flat spatula, let it set and then paint over it.
However, Goshen used the home improvement wall tool for a different use altogether.

How to Do It
To use spackle decoratively, all you really need is spackle and a stencil. However, if you're planning to place it on a wall in a color other than white (and you want it to match), you may need to take a little of that paint and mix it into the spackle.
Once your spackle is ready to use, place the stencil on the wall, spackle over it, and gently lift it off. You can repeat this as needed, depending on the look you're going for-whether along the bottom border where your wall meets the baseboard or in a repetitive pattern.
The best part about this idea is how customizable it is to you and your specific tastes. While a floral stencil may be easiest to use, you could also try this method with letters, stripes and more.
Not only does spackle give your wall an interesting, textured, three-dimensional look, but it also helps your space pop in a subtle way.
Plus, spackle is definitely cheaper than wallpaper or big buckets of paint currently on the market.
