Bragg Jam is returning to Macon and is better than ever with new performing artists, familiar faces and the new Muddy Mystery Shows for this year’s Concert Crawl on Saturday, July 26.

Among the performing Bragg Jam artists for this year is a rich history rooted in Macon’s music scene of the past few decades. Here’s a list of acts with Macon ties.

Shy Company

This indie rock band, hailing from Macon, Georgia, started their journey by making music as friends together in high school, according to an interview with CanvasRebel Magazine. Their trademark style of “East Coast Dream Rock” mixes light synths with mellow southern rock instrumentals to create the iconic aesthetics, likely to grace the band’s upcoming debut album, “Growing Pains.”

Shy Company is set to perform from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the JBA main stage.

JB Strauss

One of the earlier events of the night of the Concert Crawl is the guitar pull, where talented guitarists each play a song on a guitar in rotation. One of the guitarists in Bragg Jam’s guitar pull is JB Strauss, a Macon native and versatile country artist. Influenced by electric style bands of the ‘60s and ‘70s, Strauss leans into the classic soulful sound of the country genre while using personal southern storytelling to allure listeners.

Strauss is set to perform at the guitar pull along with Matt Rogers, Stacy Blanton and Derek Barron of 47 By Crow from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at Capricorn Studios.

Sisters of the Blue Moon

The trio of Nina Talon, Erica Carr and Charlie Thomas took to the music scene without warning, starting their discography with their 2023 album “Wading in Wildflowers.”

Three guitars may seem experimental for a band composition, but for the sisters, they blend hypnotic vocals with their string-heavy instrumentals to create a relaxed, yet impactful atmosphere.

The Sisters of the Blue Moon are set to perform from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Vice Bar.

Jak the Act

Jackson Dillard, more prominently known as Jak the Act, is a Macon-based rapper known to flock to the sounds of murky samples mixed with lo-fi and “boom-bap” baselines. Dillard draws clear inspiration from the early works and styles of Mac Miller, Earl Sweatshirt, Lil Peep and MF Doom, based on his music and media references. He started his journey as a streaming artist on Soundcloud with his 2020 demo “6am” and has since released almost 40 individual tracks, including works from his two albums, “still not content” and “from nowhere to nobody.”

Jak the Act is set to perform as a part of a collaborative DJ set alongside Blacc Mel, Charlie Zero, and Eric McCloud from 10:45 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Vice Bar.

Tier Blue

Formed in 2016, Tier Blue is a rock and roll band that revitalizes the nostalgic post-grunge sound of the early 2000s, utilizing the distorted synths and echoing riffs of the era. Originally starting under the name “Hindsight,” the band underwent a rebrand in 2023 and released “Relearning Old Tricks,” their most recent album.

Tier Blue is set to perform from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at The Capitol Theater.

Buckleys

The most consistent visitors to Bragg Jam every year, and one of the largest factors of why it exists to this day, continues to be Russell Walker and the Buckleys. After the 1999 tragedy involving the loss of Brax and Tate Bragg, Walker organized a jam session in their honor, which became an annual tradition for musicians and the city of Macon.

The Buckleys, who were Brax’s original band, are now comprised of almost a dozen artists who knew and performed with him during his time as a musician. Their commitment to showing up to Bragg Fest year after year maintains the widespread appreciation of the country rhythms that personify the Bragg brothers’ legacies as figures in the music world.

The Buckleys will be performing from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Grant’s Lounge.
