High-flying dogs and pigs running as fast as their little legs will let them are among the variety of live animals performing at Macon’s annual International Cherry Blossom Festival.

Even a sea lion will frolic at the grassy Carolyn Crayton Park at 150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive.

While a pink fur-dyed poodle is usually the star of the festival – as seen already painted outside of Fatty’s Pizza on Cherry Street – this year’s lineup highlights aquatic and farm animals, as well as furry friends doing creative acts.

Most of the animal shows, races and parties are free.

Here’s where you can find them from March 21 to 30:

Ultimate Air Dogs Dock Diving Competition

Athletic pups will have the chance to qualify in a national diving competition.

Dogs will pounce off a diving board into a pool of water to test how far they can jump. Those who qualify in Macon will get closer to competing in the Premier Dock Jumping Organization’s Ultimate Air Dogs Competition, a televised event in partnership with Purina.

Even non-competing dogs can jump in for $20 per dog, per day.

The competitions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 3 to 5 p.m. March 22.

This is not a ticketed event and the public can watch for free. The pool will sit on Second Street in downtown Macon.

Wiener Dog Race

The new title of “Fastest Wiener Dog in Middle Georgia” is up for grabs.

Dachshunds, usually quite fast for their size, will race down Cherry Street from 12 to 1 p.m. March 22.

This is not a ticketed event and the public can watch for free.

Pinkest Puppy Party

It doesn’t get more pink than pink beer and pink party animals.

Dogs and their owners can celebrate at Barks N’ Brews for a pink costume competition with limited edition pink beer.

“Bonus points for matching outfits!” the festival website said.

The event is from 2 to 6 p.m. March 22.
