How would Georgia handle an alien invasion? See how study ranked GA’s survival rate

UFO sightings are at an all time high in the U.S., with over 750 new sightings since May 2023. In fact, several reported sightings are “particularly interesting cases,” according to the Pentagon.

While UFO sightings and an overall curiosity of extraterrestrials have been popular in the U.S. lately, you can breathe a sigh of relief because there have been no confirmed alien invasions. And sure, it’s highly unlikely, but let’s just play devil’s advocate for a moment: how would we handle an alien invasion? Which U.S. states would survive and which would fall?

Well, a recent study by Rant Casino has done the work for us. Here’s how:

Here’s how the study works

Rant Casino ranked each U.S. state based on its “survivability” in an alien invasion. The study evaluated data such as each state’s population, UFO sightings per capita, average duration of UFO sightings, military presence, landscape, healthcare infrastructure, science and food sources to create an alien survival score. The scores were then ranked best to worst for each state. So, how does Georgia rank? Let’s see:

Would Georgia survive an alien invasion?

Rant Casino ranked Georgia no. 10 on the list of states most likely to survive an alien invasion. Why?

The Peach State received an overall survival score of 7.42 out of 10, with high totals in landscape, military presence and healthcare.

The study found that Georgia has 17 caves and 0.67% forest cover, offering “substantial natural concealment” in case of an invasion.

There’s also a huge military presence, 8.15 per capita in fact. So, with military aid, Georgians will fare well with extraterrestrials roaming.

Last, but not least is Georgia’s healthcare infrastructure coming in at 25.49 per capita, which makes the state “well-equipped to manage an extraterrestrial threat,” according to Rant Casino.

Of course, there are some areas of improvement for Georgia. The study reported that Georgia has an average UFO sighting time of 13.89 minutes, which is a longer period than most states.

Now let’s see how other states ranked:

Top 10 U.S. states that would survive an alien invasion

The Rant Casino study ranked these states the 10 most likely to survive an alien invasion:

  • Virginia with a survival score of 8.03

  • Alabama (7.90)

  • Minnesota (7.83)

  • Massachusetts (7.81)

  • New York (7.78)

  • Florida (7.59)

  • Wisconsin (7.53)

  • North Carolina (7.50)

  • Alaska (7.47)

  • Georgia (7.42)

States that probably wouldn’t survive an alien invasion

The study ranked these states at the bottom, which indicates they are less likely to survive an extraterrestrial threat:

  • Nevada with a survival score of 5.31

  • Idaho (5.66)

  • Arizona (5.77)

  • Nebraska (6.13)

  • Oregon (6.40)

  • Utah (6.44)

  • Oklahoma (6.49)

  • New Hampshire (6.49)

  • South Carolina (6.52)

  • Wyoming (6.54)
