It’s rush week in Georgia. What to know about sorority recruitment at UGA & GA College
So you want to be a sorority sister.
Well, this week is your week. It could be your lucky week, too.
Rush week is on for the University of Georgia (UGA) and Georgia College and throughout the United States. Here’s a list of things you should know if you plan to pledge.
University of Georgia (UGA) Rush Week
Schedule of events
Tuesday, August 15: Round three completion
Activities: breakfast - 7 a.m.; events - 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.; lunch and meetings - 12:15 to 2:30 p.m.; freshman welcome program - 6 p.m.; and dinner on your own.
Saturday, August 19: Preference round
Activities: breakfast - 7 a.m.; events - 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.; lunch - 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.; more events - 2 to 4 p.m.; and dinner on your own
What should I expect during rush week?
During UGA’s rush week, there are three rounds:
Round one: preview. This is where you provide a video introducing yourself to your potential sisters
Round two: sisterhood. During this round, you will learn more about the chapters and what sisterhood means.
Round three: house tours and preference. Round three is all about getting comfortable and choosing your chapter preference.
There are different histories, rules and traditions, so have a pen handy to take notes if you want.
What should I wear?
Round One - casual dresses or dressy top
Round Two - dressier, but casual skirts and dresses are still appropriate
Round Three - more relaxed; a recruitment t-shirt and dressy shorts or a skirt
When is bid day?
Bid day for UGA is Monday, August 21.
This is the day you will be invited to join a sorority. This is also the only day that a dress code is required: a white dress. Wedges or sandals are appropriate with your white dress.

Tuesday, August 15: Preference round
This round is all about you and making your final decision about a selection.
What should I wear?
During round three, a t-shirt will be provided. You can wear it with dressy shorts or a skirt and sandals.
However, the preference round requires “pin attire,” which is similar to wedding or interview dress.
When is bid day?
Wednesday, August 16 is Bid Day.
If you have been chosen, you will receive an invitation to join and a t-shirt. You are required to wear your shirt with athleisure attire such as shorts and sneakers.
