Can Georgians skinny dip or sunbathe nude at home? What the law says
Summer is sizzling, Georgia.
If you’re looking to cool off and chill out in this heat, it’s almost impossible without a pool, kiddie pool or sprinkler.
Getting naked may also be an option. Well, you will certainly cool off faster.
We’re talking skinny dipping and nude sunbathing, people. And we know you’ve thought about or maybe you’ve even done it before.
So, is it legal to skinny dip or sunbathe in the nude at home?
Here’s what Georgia law says.
Let’s get cheeky
If you are on your own private property where no one can see you, then being naked is legal, even if you’re skinny dipping or sunbathing nude.
It’s when someone sees you that things get tricky and thus, illegal.
Georgia has public indecency laws in place that make it illegal to show your genitals in any public place where you can be seen by someone else.
So, if you’re alone in your backyard and you don’t have neighbors nearby, you should be clear to participate in these nude activities. Just make sure you aren’t expecting company any time soon.
Some tips (if you’re feeling brave)
Wear sunscreen, um, everywhere. You really don’t want to get burnt in certain places.
Make sure you have a fenced in area around your private pool or plenty of acreage or trees as a buffer.
Nighttime has extra private coverage
Oh, and don’t forget a towel or clothes for afterwards
