From south Bibb County to CNN Headline News
Editor’s note: The following story is part of a feature called Home Grown in which we take a look at the people and products that have made a name for themselves well beyond our Middle Georgia borders.
Nancy Grace rode her perfect prosecutorial record in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office to become one of television’s most famous legal commentators.
Grace, who grew up in south Bibb County and attended Windsor Academy, was studying Shakespearean literature until her fiance was murdered in a case of mistaken identity.
The petite blonde changed career paths and graduated from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in her hometown of Macon.
In 1997, Court TV took notice of her feisty passion for victims’ rights and tapped her for a legal analysis show, “Cochran & Grace,” featuring former O.J. Simpson attorney Johnny Cochran.
In addition to headlining “Closing Arguments” for the legal network, Grace added a prime time crime program on CNN’s Headline News in 2005.
Her hourlong program dissected some of the nation’s most riveting cases, including the murder trials of Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias.
