Netflix movie starring Samuel L. Jackson was shot in Macon. Here’s when it will stream
Macon will be on the big screen yet again this year.
A new film called “The Piano Lesson” features scenes shot in Macon last year and will stream on Netflix soon.
Even though the film is set in Pittsburgh, it was primarily shot in Atlanta. However, according to Visit Macon Senior Vice President & COO Aaron Buzza, producers reported “fell in love” with Macon and felt the area was “perfect” for a few specific scenes, according to What’s On Netflix.

Here’s what the movie is about
“The Piano Lesson” film is an adaptation of August Wilson’s 1987 play by the same name, which won a Pulitzer Prize in 1990.
In essence, the film follows the “Charles family as they deal with themes of family legacy and more, in deciding what to do with an heirloom, the family piano,” according to IMDb.
The movie features an all-star cast with names like Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Ray Fisher, Danielle Deadwyler, Michael Potts and Corey Hawkins.

Here’s when it comes out
The PG film is a little over two hours and will first premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 10. “The Piano Lesson” will also play in select U.S. theaters and is set to be released on Netflix on Nov. 22.
