Hooters closed its Macon, Georgia, location this week.

A former employee of the location took to Facebook to share her feelings about the closure:

“Hooters in Macon, Georgia, is permanently closed,” Alicia Williams said on Facebook.

Williams shared a video of all employees sitting in a meeting at 7:30 a.m. on June 23, and also shared a photo of a letter that Hooters management gave to every employee.

“Please trust that we did everything we could to avoid closing this location and the decision was not made lightly,” the letter said.

The letter said that the last day of operations was June 23, and gave additional information about how employees could collect unemployment benefits as well as be eligible for rehire at another location.

When the Telegraph reached out to Hooters for comment, they gave us the following statement:

“Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision to close a select number of underperforming stores. Ensuring the well-being of our staff is our priority in these rare instances. With new Hooters restaurants opening domestically and internationally, new Hooters frozen products launching at grocery stores, and the Hooters footprint expanding into new markets with both company and franchise locations, this brand of 41 years remains highly resilient and relevant. We look forward to continuing to serve our guests at home, on the go and at our restaurants here in the U.S. and around the globe.”

Hooters fans still have several options in Georgia, from Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta and more.
