Restaurant News & Reviews

Sandwich & smoothie shop opened in 2023, but is now closed in Macon. Here’s why

Another Macon restaurant has closed. This one, however, came as quite the shock to many around the area.

Nature’s Table opened in 2023 and boasted fresh, health-conscious food, with the best ingredients. “The Table” offered a full menu with colorful and delicious meals, from savory sandwiches and sweet smoothies to wonderful wraps and wholesome protein bowls.

“I went at least once a week,” Amy Harp posted in a Facebook group called “Support Macon Restaurants.”

The post initially came from Amy Starley who asked whether the restaurant was really closed. “I’m so disappointed,” she said.

“Very sad,” customer Jorga Peach commented.

So why did it close?

According to franchisee Terrell Robertson, CEO of Robertson Holdings Inc., Nature’s Table was facing lower sales and budgetary issues.

“Unfortunately, after several months of declining sales for the restaurant, we had no choice but to close due to the business not being able to pay its financial obligations,” he said.

The restaurant was located in downtown Macon, on Spring Street below the Lofts at Atrium Health.

Nature’s Table came in second in The Telegraph’s annual readers poll of new restaurants in 2023, coming in only behind winner Chevo’s Mexican restaurant.

In the final round, out of 115 total votes, Nature’s Table was a close runner-up, with 52 votes.

“We greatly appreciate the support from the Macon community, but unfortunately we had to close the doors,” Robertson said.
