All games at 7:30 p.m. on Friday unless noted.

Top Five

Coffee at Northside

Series history: Northside leads 3-0.

Last meeting: Northside won 35-3 in 2009.

Scouting report: Coffee brings quality balance with quarterback Max Hughes and running back Demetrius Davis, who had about 235 yards against Houston County. The Trojans have quality losses and have scored 98 points in their past two games.

Southwest at Washington County

Series history: Washington County leads 3-2.

Last meeting: Washington County won 63-0 in 2005.

Scouting report: Southwest hasn’t defeated Washington County since 1977. If the Patriots score a victory at the House of Pain, they will be on a fast track toward the first region championship in program history.

Mary Persons at West Laurens

Series history: Mary Persons leads 11-2.

Last meeting: Mary Persons won 20-16 in 2014.

Scouting report: The lopsided series record notwithstanding, these two have had superb battles the past two seasons. West Laurens’ Darius Bradford and Mary Persons’ Zach Harvey are among the area’s top backs, but they have quality backfield mates.

Ola at Jones County

Series history: Jones County leads 2-0.

Last meeting: Jones County won 34-19 in 2011.

Scouting report: Ola joined the playoff hunt last week and can tie with Jones County for third with a win. The Greyhounds, however, are on quite a roll, averaging 44 points in their past three games.

Harris County at Veterans

Series history: Tied at 1.

Last meeting: Harris County won 30-20 in 2013.

Scouting report: The Veterans roller coaster continues at home. So playing a team that has lost three straight, including a 31-3 pasting last week by Warner Robins, probably doesn’t bode well for Veterans, which basically seals a playoff spot with a win.

Other Games to Watch

Perry at Spalding

Series history: Perry leads 3-0.

Last meeting: Perry won 27-0 in 2006.

Scouting report: Spalding, a region contender only a few weeks ago, is in a must-win mode to stay alive, but so is Perry, which next plays Mary Persons and West Laurens.

Kendrick at Peach County

Time: 8 p.m.

Series history: Peach County leads 9-1.

Last meeting: Peach County won 35-12 in 2015.

Scouting report: Of the four meetings this century, only one was decided by less than 21 points.

Westside at Pike County

Series history: First meeting.

Scouting report: Pike County has turned things around this season, going 5-2 after posting a 1-9 mark last season. Westside entered the week tied for fourth in the win column with Central and Rutland, teams that met Thursday night.

Northeast at Dublin

Series history: Dublin leads 2-1.

Last meeting: Dublin won 56-7 in the first round of the 2011 Class 2A playoffs.

Scouting report: Dublin, Dodge County and Northeast are tied for third in the loss column in Region 3-2A.

Tattnall Square at FPD

Series history: Tattnall leads 30-16.

Last meeting: FPD won 31-6 in 2015.

Scouting report: Tattnall earns a spot in the Region 7-1A championship game with wins over FPD and Stratford.

Twiggs County at Mount de Sales

Series history: Mount de Sales leads 2-1.

Last meeting: Twiggs County won 38-7 in 2015.

Scouting report: Cobras dropped just one spot in the Class 1A public power ratings after last week’s loss at Tattnall.

Wilkinson County at Stratford

Series history: Stratford leads 2-0.

Last meeting: Stratford won 42-14 in 2015.

Scouting report: Wilkinson County picked up its first win of the season last week, while Stratford can force a three-way tie for first in the sub-region by beating the Warriors and Tattnall.

Upson-Lee at Howard

Location: Ed DeFore Sports Complex.

Series history: Upson-Lee leads 2-0.

Last meeting: Upson-Lee won 41-40 in 2015.

Scouting report: After three straight losses, Howard faces (in terms of making the playoffs) a must-win situation against an Upson-Lee team that is itself fighting for a playoff spot.
