Ben Lammers put together another solid game Monday, flirting with a triple-double to lead Georgia Tech to a 77-62 win over Southern at McCamish Pavilion.

Lammers scored 13 points, but his main contributions were on defense. He had a career-high 15 rebounds, 10 of them on the defensive glass, and a career-high nine blocked shots, topping his previous high of five set in the season opener.

The Yellow Jackets (2-0) were rejecting Southern shots all night. Georgia Tech blocked 16 shots to set a program record, breaking the mark of 15 set against the University of the South in 1982.

Georgia Tech also benefited from the return of Tadric Jackson, who missed the opener with a sore hamstring. Jackson entered the game at the 15:01 mark in the first half and went to work. He slashed to the basket and was effective from the perimeter and finished with 20 points.

Southern (0-2) was led in scoring by Tre’lun Banks with 19. Banks, son of head coach Roman Banks, was 7-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-3 on 3-pointers. Shawn Prudhomme added 15 points.

Southern scored 10 straight points late in the second half and cut the Yellow Jackets’ lead to 57-50 on a basket by Prudhomme with 6:57 remaining. But Georgia Tech answered with a basket by Josh Okogie on the next trip down the floor to regain the momentum.
