Houston hires new attorney for public defender office
The Houston County Commission on Tuesday voted to hire a new attorney for the public defender’s office to replace the one promoted to chief public defender.
The board hired Sara Meyers as senior assistant public defender with a $77,563 annual salary. She is filling the spot vacated when Claudia Meier was promoted to chief public defender.
Meyers has worked for the past 10 years as chief assistant public defender in the Toombs Judicial Circuit public defender’s office. She is a 2004 graduate of the Mercer University law school.
