Renovation of Warner Robins Council chambers to improve sound
Warner Robins City Council usually draws a good crowd, but sometimes people can’t hear everything being said.
That situation should improve once renovation of the council chambers is complete.
This week, the council held its regular meeting in the precouncil room because the chamber is under renovation. Mayor Randy Toms said he believes the chamber could be ready by the next meeting on Nov. 21. If not, he said, it should at least be ready for the meeting after that, which is Dec. 5.
The renovation of the chambers is part of the overall renovation of City Hall that is being done in segments so city business can continue.
Toms said the chamber is getting new carpet, new curtains and the council seating area is being refinished. But he said one of the biggest improvements will be the sound system. There will be new speakers and panels on the wall to help with acoustics. People should be able to hear much better.
Toms said overall City Hall renovation has been going well, and it should be complete in January or February, which would be on schedule.
