Stratford set to open new lower school building

Stratford Academy is set to open the 2016-17 school year with a new lower school building.

The Cantrell Lower School, intended for students in first through fifth grades, has 20 new classrooms, including specialty science classes, a cafeteria and administrative areas. The grand opening and dedication for the building is scheduled 2-4 p.m., Aug. 14 at 6010 Peake Road. The event will begin with a ribbon-cutting followed by a reception and tour.

Classes begin at Stratford on Aug. 17.
