Educator news: State appoints school improvement official, Mercer chooses new pharmacy dean

▪  Stephanie Johnson will support under-performing schools as the deputy superintendent for school improvement for the Georgia Department of Education. She was a finalist for National Principal of the Year in 2017 and led the successful turnaround of schools in Atlanta and Clayton County.

▪  Dr. Brian Crabtree will become the dean of Mercer University’s College of Pharmacy on Oct. 1. The Mercer alumnus and longtime pharmacy educator will replace Dr. Hewitt Matthews, who is retiring after 27 years in the position.
