Grants to help schools with science, math, reading programs

▪  Westside High School is among 20 Georgia schools to receive $5,000 Innovation Fund Tiny Grants from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. The Bibb County school will use the funds for CREATE: Enrichment Makerspace, an enrichment learning program that focuses on science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

▪  Ingram Pye Elementary School is one of six Southeast schools to be awarded grants from the Krystal Foundation. The Bibb school plans to use its $3,500 for after-school programs to increase school attendance, improve student behavior, and strengthen students’ reading, math and science skills.

▪  Stratford Academy in Macon received two $500 grants from the Exxon Mobile Educational Alliance grants. The grants are awarded to organizations and schools that emphasize math and science careers. Stratford was nominated by Walthall Oil Company, a local Exxon Mobile affiliate.
