Macon clerk shot in store robbery
A Macon store clerk was shot during a struggle with armed robbers just before 1 a.m. Thursday.
Brij Patel was outside the L&C convenience store at 917 Hillcrest Blvd. when two men approached and demanded his money and cellphone, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
One of the men showed a gun during the robbery, and the 41-year-old Patel was shot in the right leg as the suspects struggled with him.
They left the wounded Patel and went into the store and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
He was later taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he was in stable condition later in the day.
One of the robbers was wearing what appeared to be a black hoodie and black pants. The other had on a black shirt and red shorts.
Both are black and about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with medium builds.
A little more than a month ago, another convenience store clerk, Prakash Patel, was shot and killed during an armed robbery at the Gary Food Mart on Bloomfield Drive.
