Less than three hours before 40-year-old Prakash Patel was shot to death in a Macon convenience store, his suspected killers allegedly carjacked a vehicle at another store.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in locating the four-door, 2008 charcoal gray Saturn Vue taken from Reliance Food Mart at 3590 Mumford Road about 10:45 p.m. Friday.

The driver of the Saturn was not injured, according to a sheriff’s news release.

Investigators believe the Vue was used in the armed robbery of the Gary Food Mart at 3306 Bloomfield Drive, where Patel was fatally wounded about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The sheriff’s office released a photograph of a similar vehicle, and investigators are asking anyone who sees a car like it to call 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME or 478-742-2330.
