Bandits fire shots as customer leaves Dollar General store after armed robbery

A customer dodged bullets late Monday leaving a Dollar General store after an armed robbery at 3824 Pio Nono Ave. near Roses.

Just before 10 p.m., two men with guns ordered everyone in the store to get down on the floor, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The gunmen demanded that an employee open the safe, but when the worker couldn’t, they wanted the cash register opened.

They took the cash drawer and left.

As they ran through the the South Plaza shopping center toward Pio Nono, a customer came out of the store and the robbers started shooting at the building.

The window of the neighboring Cricket Wireless store shattered, but no one was hurt.
