Teen shot in argument over $5
Before a teen was shot in Payne City on Wednesday night, there had been an argument about $5 owed to a 14-year-old.
Malik Bonner, 18, was hanging out with two boys, ages 14 and 15, near Freedom Park about 7:30 p.m. when the trio confronted 17-year-old Derick Ivey about $5 he reportedly owed to the 14-year-old, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The 15-year-old then grabbed a handgun and fired several shots, hitting 17-year-old Shelna Hicks in the left leg, the release said.
A family member drove Hicks from the Comer Terrace address to the Coliseum Hospital.
Bonner and the 14-year-old each are charged with affray. Bonner was booked in the jail and released Thursday on a $650 bond, records show.
The 14-year-old was released to his parents.
The 15-year-old gunman was booked in the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center on charges including three counts of aggravated assault, affray, reckless conduct and possession of a gun by a minor, the news release said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
