A Macon man on active duty at Fort Stewart was found dead with a fellow soldier inside a south Georgia townhouse after an anonymous tip was called in to police Sunday night, the Coastal Courier reported.

A Hinesville police officer peered through the window of the house in the 300 block of Rebecca Street after the 9 p.m. call, and found the bodies of 23-year-old MarQuez Brown and 21-year-old Malika Jackson lying on the floor in a “a lot of blood,” the newspaper reported.

Liberty County Coroner Reginald Pierce said the men’s deaths are suspicious and autopsy is set for Tuesday.

Brown, of Macon, was a former drum major at Southwest High School, according to condolences left by friends on a Facebook page in his name.

Fort Stewart is the largest military installation east of the Mississippi river.
