Perry family forced from home after fire
A fire that damaged a Perry home and displaced a family early Monday was “electrical related,” the fire chief says.
The 8:16 a.m. fire on Whipple Street started around an electrical strip, Perry Fire Chief Lee Parker said Tuesday.
“Based on the damage, the cause of the fire is undetermined,” Parker said. “But knowing where it started, we know it had to be electrical related.”
The American Red Cross is aiding the fire victims with temporary housing, Parker said.
Arriving firefighters could see flames and smoke but were able to keep the majority of the damage to one room, the fire department said on Facebook.
Heat and smoke damage throughout the home made it uninhabitable, Parker said.
No one was hurt.
