5 things to know about the Warner Robins Independence Day Celebration

Final preparations are coming together for the 2017 Independence Day Celebration at McConnell-Talbert Stadium on June 30.

Here are 5 things you need to know about the event:

1. Times

Gates open at 6 p.m. for the free Warner Robins Independence Day Concert in the parking lot of McConnell-Talbert Stadium. Mary Kate Farmer is expected to take the stage about 7:20 p.m., followed by headliner Montgomery Gentry at 8:30 p.m. Afterward, East Coast Pyrotechnics is expected to set off about $45,000 worth of fireworks synchronized to patriotic music at about 10 p.m.

2. How to get in

The three gates into the event are off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, South Davis Drive and the South Davis Drive pedestrian bridge.

3. Road closures

At 3 p.m., Demon Valley Drive will close to traffic to include parking, and at 10 p.m., South Davis Drive will close for the duration of the fireworks.

4. Where to park

Designated parking areas include Union Grove Baptist Church’s field, Pearl Stephens School, Rumble Academy, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Complex, Robins Federal Credit Union, Middle Georgia State University, Commercial Circle and the city’s Municipal Complex. C.B. Watson School will serve as a handicapped and VIP parking only, while Warner Robins High School will serve as a pickup and drop-off area.

5. What’s allowed in and what’s not

Small, soft-sided coolers with sealed drinks inside, lawn chairs, diaper bags, small coolers for medical/health purposes (such as insulin or baby formula) may be brought in. Prohibited items include firearms, alcohol, drones, rolling coolers, hard-sided coolers, pets, outside food and drink (with vendors on site), large umbrellas and tents. All items are expected to be searched and people are subject to search.
