Peach Deputy Daryl Smallwood funeral procession, arrangements set
Law enforcement officers will gather for a funeral procession in Byron and again convene at Southside Baptist Church in Warner Robins for the service for Peach County deputy Daryl Smallwood.
Smallwood, 39, was gunned down along with Sgt. Patrick Sondron while answering a call about a neighbors’ dispute Sunday in Byron.
Mourners will gather at the church at 1040 S. Houston Lake Road for visitation beginning at 11 a.m Saturday.
The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the church, which hosted Sondron’s visitation and funeral.
Smallwood will be buried at Prosperity Church Cemetery in Rupert.
The procession will leave the Byron Police Department at 10 a.m. and head to Rooks Funeral Home using the North Carolina Troopers Caisson, according to a Byron police release.
From the funeral home, the procession will travel down Gralan Drive to Linda Drive, to New Dunbar Road, to Ga. 49 and then south on Interstate 75 to Russell Parkway to South Houston Lake Road to Southside Baptist Church.
After the service, the procession will leave the church on South Houston Lake Road to Russell Parkway. At the end of Russell Parkway, the procession will turn on to Housers Mill and then on to Ga. 96 toward Butler.
