Fire destroys home, and firefighter sustains minor injury
A firefighter sustained a minor burn and a resident was displaced after a house fire in Warner Robins early Monday.
Flames were visible on both sides of the house at 211 Sunset Drive when firefighters arrived about 5:10 a.m., according to a release from the Warner Robins Fire Department. The house is behind Houston County Medical Center, not far from Watson Boulevard.
It took three firetrucks and a “brush truck” to squelch the flames. A brush truck is often used for fighting brush and grass fires.
A firefighter sustained “a mild injury from an ember,” the release said.
No one was inside the house at the time and it was characterized as a total loss. The Red Cross was helping the home’s sole resident.
Fire officials were still checking to see what caused the fire.
