Shot in the back, man lies in carport while those around him flee

A man was shot in the back late Sunday in the 200 block of Carroll Drive, police said.

Prentiss Brown, 36, was found in the carport of a residence with a single gunshot wound to the back, according to a Warner Robins police release.

He was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, for treatment. He was in critical condition, Jennifer Parson, public information officer for Warner Robins police, said in an email.

Police were dispatched to Carroll Drive at 10:15 p.m. about shots fired and a person down.

Several people were reported to be around Brown when he was shot, but all of them fled.

What appeared to be blood stained the middle of the road between 223 Carroll Drive and the home across the street at 217 Carroll Drive.

No one was home Monday morning at either residence. A neighbor reported hearing shots fired and men running in different directions after 10 p.m.
