Traffic backs up in Monroe County after tractor trailer overturns on I-75

A tractor trailer overturned about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in the southbound lane of Interstate 75 at mile marker 180 just south of Rumble Road in Monroe County. Traffic was still backed up an hour later as a result of the crash.

The truck turned over near the right side of the road and caught on fire a short time later, Sgt. Lawson with the Monroe County Sherriff’s office said.

The fire spread to the woods nearby but had been put out by the Monroe County fire department, he said.

“To my knowledge one was transported (by emergency vehicles) and no other cars were involved,” Lawson said.
