About a dozen protesters gathered Monday to express their displeasure with the demolition of Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church and the neighboring Douglass house.

The structures were torn down in 2014 to make way for a Dunkin' Donuts shop, which opened last year. The demolition drew the ire of many in the community who thought the historic structures should be saved.

The protest took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The civil rights leader was among those who spoke at Tremont, according to the church's website.
