A Dunkin' Donuts shop has opened between Pine and Forsyth streets and is displaying a bit of Macon history on its walls.

The 2,400-square-foot shop opened Saturday across Pine Street from the Medical Center, Navicent Health. An official grand opening will be held in the next week or so, said Lou Patel, owner of D&D Middle Georgia LLC.

"It's going good," Patel said. "We're keeping busy."

A Which Wich sandwich shop next door is expected to open Nov. 9, he said. It has 1,600 square feet of space.

The restaurants are in one building with separate entrances.

A mural of the historic Douglass House and Tremont Baptist Church along with some written history of the buildings has been painted on one wall of Dunkin' Donuts. The mural pays homage to the two buildings cleared from the site to build the restaurants.

About 60 people have been hired to work at the two restaurants, Patel said.

Dunkin' Donuts is open 5 a.m.-midnight, and Which Wich will be open 10 a.m.-midnight. Both will be open seven days a week.
