Authorities found the body of a drowned Centerville man Tuesday after roughly two days of searching in the Ocmulgee River at Amerson Park, officials said.

Officers from the Bibb sheriff’s office, Bibb fire department, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Georgia State Patrol found the body of Raymund Ellison Jr., 20, at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

He was declared dead when he was found by Bibb deputy coroner Lonnie Miley, the statement said. His family was notified.

Sheriff’s deputies and firemen began searching for Ellison just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Ellison was floating the Ocmulgee with his friends on an inner tube when he went missing, the sheriff’s office said.

Friends noticed Ellison was gone when they looked back while they floated the river. A fire department dive team assisted with the search.
