Rev. Al Sharpton is set to speak Wednesday evening at a Macon church.

The civil rights activist is set to take the stage at Macedonia Church, 600 Eisenhower Parkway about 6 p.m.

The program is part of the annual National Action Network Middle Georgia Conference, founded by Sharpton in 1991. This year’s theme is “Everything is at Stake.”

The National Action Network is a nonprofit civil rights organization working to “promote a modern civil rights agenda ... for one standard of justice, decency and equal opportunities for all people,” according to the site.

Sharpton is the current president of the organization, but the Macon chapter was founded in 2014 by Sarah Hunt.

A devotion and a couple of performances will take place before Sharpton speaks, Hunt said.

The event is free and open to the public.
