An early-morning fire displaced 10 people sharing a home on Lexington Street, a Macon-Bibb County firefighter says.

No one was hurt in the 3 a.m. fire at 760 Lexington St., with everyone already out before firefighters arrived on scene, said fire Capt. Michael Williamson.

The fire did heavy damage to the single-family dwelling, with only the charred frame of much of the house left standing.

The American Red Cross is assisting residents, and the fire remains under investigation, Williamson said.
