Woman injured in wreck on busy Macon road

Traffic is being re-routed at Broadway and Eisenhower Parkway after a serious crash involving a car and a semitrailer about 3:30 p.m.

The semitrailer was traveling northbound toward Macon on Broadway and a Chevy Malibu was headed westbound on Eisenhower Parkway, Bibb County sheriff’s Lt. Randy Gonzalez said.

The crash happened “as both were entering the intersection,” Gonzalez said. “Right now, we’re still determining ... who had the green light and who had the red light at the time.”

The woman driving the Malibu was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health where coroner Leon Jones said she is in critical condition. He said the woman didn’t have any identification on her.

The semitrailer driver was not injured, Gonzalez said.

Traffic was still being rerouted at 4:30 p.m., and Gonzalez said the intersection will be closed as investigators work and debris from the scene is cleaned. About 125 gallons of fuel spilled in the wreck.
