Female entrepreneurs have a chance to get their product sold in Wal-Mart

Women entrepreneurs in Georgia have an opportunity to have their products sold in Wal-Mart stores.

The massive retailer is seeking female entrepreneurs to pitch their “made in the USA” products to the company’s buyers, according to a news release. Potential candidates have to register online at www.walmart-jump.com by May 18. If selected, they will take part in an open call event June 28 with Wal-Mart buyers in the company’s Bentonville, Arkansas, headquarters to compete for offers to have their products featured in stores nationwide.

“Wal-Mart buyers will be looking to make deals of varying sizes ranging from supplying product to a handful of stores in a local market, to supplying hundreds or thousands of stores as well as Sam’s Club locations and at www.Walmart.com,” the release said.

“By investing in products that support American jobs, we are able to bring new products to our shelves that our customers want and new jobs to our communities,” Cindi Marsiglio, vice president of U.S. manufacturing, said in the release.

The effort is part of Wal-Mart and the Walmart Foundation, which announced in 2011 a goal to help transform the lives of women and their families. Today, Wal-Mart has more than 1,500 female-owned business suppliers.
