Development Authority of Monroe County selects new president

Kenneth “Bo” Gregory Jr. has been named president of the Development Authority of Monroe County.

Most recently Gregory was director of economic development for the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He has been involved in the job creation field since 2005 when he worked as a client services manager and then statewide economic developer for the North Carolina Department of Commerce. In 2010 he joined the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce in North Carolina as director of economic development.

Middle Georgia resident Lewis receives LongHorn Steakhouse award

Kerry Melinda Lewis, a culinary team member at the LongHorn Steakhouse in Warner Robins, has been presented with the Team Member of the Year Award, the company’s top honor for restaurant employees. Lewis is one of just four team members selected this year to receive this award from the more than 28,000 LongHorn Steakhouse employees in North America.

Lewis has been in the hospitality industry for 20 years.

Dublin-Laurens County chosen as International Community of the Year

Dublin-Laurens County was chosen recently as the International Community of the Year by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The award recognizes a municipality, county or regional entity in Georgia that has gone above and beyond to promote international business in that community.

In the past five years, the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority has been successful in locating five international companies representing four different countries: Denmark, Germany, Latvia and Israel. Twenty-five years ago, Japan-based YKK AP came to the area and has had multiple expansions. Combined, the six international companies have either created or are on track to create about 1,480 new jobs.
