Trial of 2nd person accused in Warner Robins murder is under way

PERRY -- The trial of a second person accused in the 2011 shooting death of a Warner Robins teen is now under way in Houston County.

Trey Lorenz Dinkins, 20, was indicted by a Houston County grand jury on charges of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm during a crime.

Dajohn Milton, 19, was found lying in a dirt path between Cedar Pointe Apartments and Savannah Apartments the late afternoon of March 20, 2011. He had been shot multiple times behind a burned out building and left for dead.

In February, a Houston County jury found Marquis Torez Lowe, 27, guilty on all counts of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The next day, on Feb. 10, Superior Court Judge Katherine K. Lumsden sentenced Lowe to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus five years. Lumsden is also presiding over Dinkins’ trial.

Monday, jurors heard opening statements from prosecution and defense attorneys, as well as testimony from prosecution witness 48-year-old Debarah Davidson. Jurors also heard the 911 tape of an emotional Davidson calling 911 before the court recessed for the afternoon.

In Lowe’s trial, Davidson testified that as she knelt beside a profusely bleeding Milton and asked him, “Who shot you? Who shot you baby?”

“Trey Deuce” was the answer Davidson testified during Lowe’s trial. Trey Deuce is Dinkins’ street name.

Also during Lowe’s trial, Blaine Arnold, 18, testified that Lowe told him when the two were jailed in Houston County together that he finished the job of gunning down Milton in a botched robbery attempt for drugs. Arnold testified that Dinkins fired first, Milton was still alive and that Lowe then grabbed the .380-caliber handgun from Dinkins and shot Milton.

Arnold is also expected to testify during Dinkins’ trial.

Several of Milton’s family members were present in the courtroom Monday, as were several family members of Dinkins.

Houston County prosecutor Daniel P. Bibler declined comment afterward, as did Jonathan P. Waters, a Macon attorney representing Dinkins.

The trial is expected to run through Wednesday and possibly into Thursday.
