John Drew Smith tennis center’s 7th annual Rally for the Cure raises over $1528.00

Sunday marked John Drew Smith Tennis Center,(JDS) 7th Rally for the Cure.  With the sun shining and players wearing pink, refreshment tables aligned with pink snacks, the Rally got off to a great start.

New this year, a silent auction table. “We had an overwhelming response from local community businesses,” said Sarah Witherspoon, John Drew Smith Tennis Center Coordinator and organizer of the Rally. “Over 40 items were donated.”

Even if you didn’t participate, you could bid on the items.

“We had one patron who came to the tennis center to hit on the wall.  He wandered our way afterwards, bid and one three items.”

First time participant, Melissa Touchton said, “This was my first year participating in the Rally for the Cure tennis event. We had a great turnout but I'd love to see more next year. It was lots of fun and it was also great to see the men being so supportive and even sporting their pink.”

Another first time participant, Ann Kearby said, “This was the first time I didn’t have prior commitments. It’s great to come out and support a great cause.”

"I was so touched by everyone's generosity," said Witherspoon, whose sister lost her fight against breast cancer.  "A huge thank you to everyone who made our 7th Rally for the Cure an enormous success."

Some of the items up for bid included;

Lessons from local tennis pros(instructors)

Fresh Market – fruit/food basket
