Braves, Tigers complete trade
The Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers completed a trade Tuesday, sending infielder Erick Aybar to the Tigers in exchange for infielder/outfielder Mike Aviles and minor-league catcher Kade Scivicque.
Aviles, 35, has batted .210 (35-for-167) in 68 games for the Tigers this season, his first year with the team. The infielder/outfielder has played parts of nine seasons with Kansas City, Boston, Cleveland and Detroit and owns a career batting average of .262 with 137 doubles, 59 home runs and 298 RBI.
Scivicque, 23, is in his second professional season and has appeared in 105 games this season for Lakeland of the Florida State League. He has hit .282 with 19 doubles, six home runs and 41 RBI this season after posting a combined .269 average in 51 games last year between Connecticut (Single-A) and West Michigan (Single-A).
Aybar, 32, appeared in 97 games for the Braves this season and hit .242 with two home runs and 26 RBI. This was his first season with Atlanta after spending 10 seasons with the Los Angeles Angels.
